Elders

Greg Busenitz

Greg and Cheri have been married since 2003; they have two children,
Brendan and Krista. Greg has spent most of his working life in heavy machinery and manufacturing. He currently works on the family farm in Elbing with his dad, Lester, and brother, Chad.

Greg's spiritual journey really matured as he served as a missionary for 4 years in Alaska, which is where he met his wife Cheri. After getting married, he continued serving in ministry working at Grace Adventures in Michigan for six years. The Busenitz family moved back to Kansas in 2009 to raise their children. Greg serves on both the Setup Team and Security Team.

"I’m excited to be part of a church that is so committed to helping people discover their passions, and enjoy serving New Anthem Church as an elder.”

Mike Scates

Mike and Kay Scates have been married for over 40 years and have two daughters, Mika and Kyla.  They currently reside in Valley Center, Kanssas.  Mike is a retired business manager and engineer, while Kay is a retired nurse.

Mike has actively served in previous churches that he and Kay have attended, acting as Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer.  Mike and Kay have been attending New Anthem church since 2015.  In addition to serving as an elder, Mike serves on the finance committee and set-up team; Kay helps with our women's ministry program.  Together Mike and Kay host the college/young professional group and a small group.

"After accepting Christ at the age of 13, the Holy Spirit has never abandoned me.  I knew I needed to marry a Christian woman, and Christ brought Kay into my life.  Since then, we have moved from being 'fans' to striving to becoming 'followers' of Christ.  Kay and I want New Anthem to continue to be a presence in the community as well as be open to new ideas or areas of ministry."

Randy Siebert

Randy and Vicky have been married since 1979; they have two children, Abby and
Annie; and 2 granddaughters. Vicky and Randy served on the initial “launch team” for New Anthem and have been very encouraged by its growth and passion to help people. They’ve been involved with a number of areas of service, including, most recently,
leading the hospitality team.

“I spent a number of years working in farming and ranching, but I also have a pilot’s license and in 2000 we moved to Newton so I could be a flight instructor at Flight Safety in Wichita. I’m excited to see what God has next for us and the church as I serve on our Elder Board.”

Joel Smith

Joel and Kendall Smith reside in Newton, Kansas.  They have been married since 2002 and have 3 children: Oliver, Lily, and Brahm.  Kendall teaches K-4 Science at Walton Rural Life Center while Joel works for the Newton Recreation Commission, as well as manage several small businesses.

"I enjoy playing basketball and following the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Growing up as a pastor's kid I have always enjoyed, and been highly involved in, the local church.  We had already been a part of a church plant, so when the opporunity came to help with New Anthem, it seemed like a good fit for our family.

"Working on the finance team and welcome team has given me the opportunity to use my gifts.  I love New Anthem because the people are real, genuine and truly care about loving others.  We're honored to call New Anthem our home church and are looking forward to what God has in store for Park City and our church."

DJ Waters

DJ and Natasha Waters have been married since 1999 and have five children: Brianna, Tripp, Alaina, Tamarra and Troy.  DJ works for Arbor Masters Tree Service as an arborist and Natasha works in the Valley Center School District; they have been Park City residents for over 15 years.

"I'm the youngest of nine children. We were raised in a Christian home which was also a sprawling farm and ranching operation in South Dakota.  I put my faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ in June 1978 at the age of four, and was later baptized at the age of 10 at Carter Gospel Fellowship by Pastor Elmer Reimer.

"Elmer's son Dave started Grace Community Church in Newton, and when I arrived in the area it just seemed natural to attend there.  I served as leader, usher, and parking attendant while at Grace.  Here at New Anthem, I enjoy serving on worship team with my family.  I'm excited to be a part of a church in my community and look forward to the next season of growth at New Anthem."
