April needs to be your month to get stuff done.

There’s not a whole lot going on in the sports world, there’s not really any hunting seasons open, the kids have already had spring break, and the housing market hasn’t really taken off yet.

There’s no excuse. April needs to be your month to get stuff done.

Now most people leverage April for what's called, "spring cleaning". You clean your garage, or your bathroom, or you tighten up that landscaping--and you can still do all that with what I’m about to propose, but let me tell you where you need to start with this year’s spring cleaning:

Your calendar.

Your calendar needs to reflect who you want to be, not what you have to do.

I’m going to type that again because it’s really good and you should read it twice.

Your calendar needs to reflect who you want to be, not what you have to do.

You need to get rid of all that junk that makes no difference in the long run, because the bottom line is you're going to say no to something, you better make your yes worth that no. So I’ve resolved myself to become better at a lot of things this year, and I can’t share them all, but I’ll share one—I want to learn how to fly. Not like myself, but I want to fly an airplane. I’ve always hated flying, and I think if I’m behind the stick so to speak, that might help.

So I have a guy at my church who is a certified flight instructor, and I’m going to unapologetically schedule time to learn how to fly. Why? Because my calendar needs to reflect who I want to be, not what I have to do.

Certainly there are some less selfish things that will get scheduled, better husband, better dad, better pastor, etc. But I’m also making time this year for other things. Spring cleaning.

It’s time for you to do a little spring cleaning too. April needs to be your month to get stuff done—so simple question;

who do you want to be?
